| Exactly, In fact the table I was looking at erroneously had Incoloy as under nickel based which I couldn’t understand at the time. Incoloy is in fact iron based super alloy. "Steel" is iron based meaning majority element is Fe. Incoloy could technically be referred to as stainless steel and you are right the whole "super alloy" thing is like that "super cops" thing from Beverly Hills Cop. It is meant to convey the ability to perform at high temperature, something your average "stainless steel" is not always the best at. All Inconel is Nickel based. Most of it is Ni-Cr-Fe in order of percent. Where as the 625 mentioned above is one of only a couple grades that are Ni-Cr-Mo, only a max of 5.0% Fe in that one.
